The LOTT Alliance views training as an investment in our staff to develop and maintain a safe, comfortable, legally-compliant, and productive working environment.



Training

For some positions, continuing education is necessary to maintain certifications required for the job. In other positions, ongoing training is an expectation of the job in order for our staff to keep up with increasingly complex technologies. LOTT's commitment to providing training opportunities for our staff ensures that the utility will continue to build the skilled staff necessary to meet future needs.

LOTT has initiated a variety of programs to provide our staff with training and other educational opportunities. Each division has an annual training budget and encourages employees to identify job-related training opportunities that will benefit them in their current positions, or prepare them for future opportunities. LOTT also provides a wide variety of on-site safety training, including CPR and First Aid, security, defensive driving, and fire extinguisher use, and the Wellness Committee sponsors informational sessions on healthy lifestyles, nutrition, and stress management.

Educational Assistance Program

The LOTT Alliance has established an Educational Assistance Program to encourage employees to seek additional educational opportunities by reimbursing them for tuition expenses. Tuition reimbursement allows employees to participate in formal educational programs that will increase their ability to more effectively perform their current jobs, or to prepare them to take on greater responsibility within LOTT service.

Employees throughout the organization have used this program to access a variety of educational opportunities, including attending local community colleges, working toward a Bachelors degree from an online institution, and completing a Master of Public Administration degree, among others.

Professional Conferences

LOTT provides opportunities for staff at all levels of the organization to attend work-related conferences. Employees who attend local, regional, and national conferences participate in workshops and training programs that allow them bring back valuable ideas, resources, and new professional contacts that benefit the entire organization. Additionally, LOTT employees have also presented papers and posters at a variety of professional and technical conferences that demonstrate the organization's leadership role in the industry and allow us to share the expertise of our highly skilled and knowledgeable staff.
